I cannot put into words my excitement when finding out I had won a room refresh to the value of R75 000 from TFG online, @home store. At the time, I was bedridden with a terrible chest infection, feeling rather sorry for myself when I received a call that flipped my day on it’s axis.

As explained in my previous post, I had been putting off buying furniture for my much bigger apartment, so this couldn’t have come at a better time. Transforming my living/dining area had always been a dream and now I could finally see it materialising.

First things first – Inspiration!

Apart from the endless hours of scrolling through pinterest boards, I found a lot of inspiration from @home’s lookbooks tailored to every season, available under the ‘gifts and inspiration’ tab on TFG e-mall. Once I’d decided on my direction it was time to get shopping.

The Buying!

In the beginning, I felt like a kid in a sweet shop, until I realised that wise choices were a necessity in this process because I simply wanted everything! My furniture and homeware/decor pieces were placed as one order and delivered in two separate deliveries. I received my decor/homeware pieces within 3-5 working days and bigger furniture pieces are scheduled to come within 5-10 working days. I had to cancel a few items (which happens when you’re indecisive like me) and the @home online customer service staff were extremely helpful and followed up regularly.

And then, the Transformation.

From frumpy to foxy doesn’t even cut it! I decided to go with a lot of colour in my apartment, which is quite a departure from what I have usually had in the past. It was inspired by the sea green velvet ottoman which I instantly fell in love with after spotting it in the @home lookbook. It became my centre accent piece, which informed my room refresh.

The Lounge

A firm favourite is definitely my drinks trolley which has been revived from its early glory days of the mid 40-70s , thanks Don Drapper!

Dining Area

My dining area is soon to become the life of the party! I’ve chosen a range of white and oak classic loft pieces from @home store, which I believe can work in any space. A good consideration to make when you’re renting! Adding a lot of colour with my sylvester dining chairs has gone a long way in breathing crisp air into the space.

For the entrance area, I chose this simple console matched with a statement lamp and adorned with a very special piece, my friend’s artwork.

You can find the furniture pieces above  on TFG online’s @home store. I am obsessed with my new home and extremely grateful for this experience which has truly been one of the most rewarding! Thank you to TFG online and @home store.
